LAYOUT OF THE CAMPUS, INFRASTRUCTURE, FEATURES & FACILITIES:
The school, spread over a sprawling area of 206 acres, has a beautiful campus with well-laid out roads and buildings. There are around 1000 mango trees along with the plantation of cashew nut, Coconuts, sweet lime, sapota and guava trees. This adds scenic beauty to the School Campus. The instructional block of the School is a two storied building with modern classrooms housed with fully equipped IT facilities along with a projector and educational software consisting of relevant classroom modules for all the subjects which are connected via LAN, well-equipped laboratories for Sciences, Mathematics and Computer Science, an art and craft gallery and various academic departments. The administrative wing of the school is housed in the Maharaja’s Palace. The school has an auditorium with a seating capacity of 650, eight spacious Houses for the cadets, a capacious Cadets’ Mess and two open parks for children. A spawling sports complex with all the major games facilities such as football, hockey, volleyball, basketball and many more outdoor games can be played simultaneously.
The Saikor Swimming Pool with modern water treatment facilities, spectator galleries and dressing rooms helps cadets in imparting swimming practice and training which is very essential for the successful completion of Military Training in Officer Cadre at NDA.
The Computer Lab of the School has the computers with latest configuration. The computer lab is also equipped with Internet and Multimedia facilities.
The school has a good Reading Room cum Library. Newspa¬pers and varieties of magazines are available for reading. It remains open on all seven days of the week. There is internet facility with unlimited broadband connection available for students and staff separately.
An indoor stadium of national standard was added to the school infrastructure which was constructed with a budget of Rs.2 Crores. This will enable the conduct of all indoor games such as Basketball, Volleyball, Table-Tennis, Chess etc in an effective and interesting way. The stadium has the capacity of housing 1000 spectators.
The school has a 35mm and 16mm Movie Projector and an LCD Projector. Entertainment films are screened for the cadets on Saturdays. Instructional films are also screened in the School.
Swimming pool with all modern facilities including a wate treatment plant is also available. Swimming is taught as an extra-curricular activities to the cadets.
This school has a MI Room(hospital) with 12beds, The school has a fulltime doctor. A qualified nursing assistant is also attached to the MI, all the boys are subjected to have medical check ups.
A high standard Squash Court facility is provided to the cadets for recreation.
The school has 28 highly qualified and experienced teachers who work with a missionary zeal and devotion. Besides, two physical training instructors deputed by the Indian Army to conduct PT and Games, the School also gets the services of the Coaches from Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh and Eastern Naval Command to train the cadets in various sports and games. There are also NCC PI Staff (a Subedar and a Havaldar) attached to handle the compulsory NCC training and other adventure activities
NCC training is compulsory for all the Students who are admitted into the school. The school imparts training in all three wings of NCC enabling the cadets to appear for NCC ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ Certificate Examinations.
NCC also sponsors our cadets in a wide range of activities like Trekking, Mountaineering, Cycling, Rock Climbing, Para sailing, Scuba diving and a host of other adventure activities
The farm spread over 68 acres of land caters for the vegetables and fruits supplied to the cadets mess. It also covers a large area of Social Forestry which includes teak, rose, casuarinas, eucalyptus, bamboo etc.
One primary school run by the Sainik School Management Committee namely Saikor Elementary School (Telugu Medium) for the children of the staff as well as from the adjoining areas.
The Saikor Animal Farm consists of Dairy and Goatery. The school is self sufficient as regards to requirement of milk for the cadets and staff families. It also has a Bio (Gobar) Gas Plant which is connected with the Mess for using the gas as cooking fuel. Goatery is maintained to auction these animals primarily to generate revenue for the school.
Canteen and Tuck Shop:
The school runs a CSD Canteen and a Tuck Shop. Items for the canteen are regularly procured from the Canteen Stores De¬partment, Visakhapatnam.
The school has the facility of an Industrial Laundry which can take the load of about 600 pairs of clothes at a time. This caters to requirements of washing and ironing of the cadets’ soiled linen in their day-to-day routine.
