BRIEF HISTORY OF THE UNIT
1. AP Sainik School Coy JD NCC Korukonda came into existence during the year 1964 with the strength of 250 cadets consisting of 05 JD Troops. Subsequently 5 move JD Troops were raised increasing the total number of JD Troops of this Unit to 10 i.e., 08 Army, 01 Air and 01 Navy.
2. Vide Dte Gen NCC, New Delhi letter No.8030/DG NCC/PLG dated 01 July 1994, the coverage of NCC in Sainik Schools was extended to the students of Class XI and Class XII, to be enrolled as Senior Division cadets and appear in NCC ‘B’ Certificate examination, prior to their passing out from the School.
3. Accordingly, vide Dte Gen NCC, New Delhi letter No.000/C/DGNCC/PLG dated 20 July 1998, approval was accorded for up gradation of 100 Junior Division cadets (i.e.02 Junior Division Army Troops Cadets) of this unit into one Senior Division Platoon (Army) affiliated to 13 Andhra Battalion NCC, Visakhapatnam.
4. NCC Directorate (AP & T), Secunderabad vide letter no. NCC (AP & T)/155/2/P&C dated 15 Mar 2023 has reduced the strength of 400 JD/JW to 200 JD/JW. i.e 04 troops having 02 Army, 01 Navy and 01 Air Wing and also 100 SD/SW cadets affiliated to 13 (A) BN NCC, Visakhapatnam has now been affiliated to 14 (A) BN NCC, Srikakulam.
